OEKO-TEX Partners with TextileGenesis to Digitize Organic Cotton Traceability
OEKO-TEX and TextileGenesis work together. OEKO-TEX saw organic cotton certification volumes rise by 381% by the end of 2025. TextileGenesis, a Lectra company, helps digitize the Transaction Certificates for organic cotton. They replace paper-based processes with a secure, digital chain. This chain resists fraud. TextileGenesis uses its Fibercoin technology to link digital tokens closely with each organic cotton shipment.
Driving Transparency and Fraud Prevention in Organic Cotton Supply Chains
The partnership fixes a key challenge in the industry. It makes the steps from cotton fiber to finished product clear and secure. On the Fibercoin platform, each cotton batch gets a unique digital token. These tokens connect each step closely. The system cuts down on extra paperwork for ginners, spinners, manufacturers, and brands. It also builds trust in the certification claims.
Leveraging OEKO-TEX’s Certification Expertise and Digital Innovation
OEKO-TEX uses its GMO testing at 17 institutes around the globe. It links this expertise with TextileGenesis’ digital tools. This mix keeps the organic standards strong from raw fiber to yarn. Dr. Alfred J. Beerli, CEO of OEKO-TEX, explains that this move modernizes the entire certification process. The change makes it faster, scalable, and more transparent. A pilot program in early 2025 showed that the system works well. Eleven supply chain actors in India and Bangladesh joined the test. They validated 24 certificates, and feedback on the system was very positive.
Expanding Digital Certification Across the Textile Industry
After the pilot, OEKO-TEX and TextileGenesis plan to grow the system. They will extend digital certification to more organic cotton supply chains. They also aim to add other OEKO-TEX certifications and product groups soon. Dr. Beerli stresses that real-time data and smooth connections lay the path for future textile standards. This change supports integrity and sustainable growth in the fashion and apparel world.
Key Data:
- Organic cotton certification volumes increased by 381% YoY by the end of 2025.
- The pilot project ran from March to August 2025 with 11 supply chain actors.
- 24 Transaction Certificates were digitized and validated across 19 certified transactions.
- The effort links OEKO-TEX’s testing system with TextileGenesis’ Fibercoin technology.
This project shows how digital changes make textile certification simpler, more secure, and easier to trust.
