On October 17, 2025, PROMPERÚ successfully inaugurated the first-ever Peru Outdoor Expo in the Ancash region, home to the majestic Cordillera Blanca mountains. This event underscores Peru’s rising global reputation as a premier destination for adventure travel, emphasizing a diverse portfolio of travel products aligned with sustainability and community engagement.

The Expo convened over 30 local suppliers and 39 international buyers and media from nine key markets including Canada, India, and South Africa. Peru’s adventure travel ranking improved from 29th in 2020 to 6th globally by 2024, reinforcing investment potential.

Kiara Castaneda from SERNANP (Peru’s National Service of Natural Protected Areas) detailed Peru’s exceptional biodiversity—ranking #1 globally amongst the top ten countries—and outlined efforts involving 1,500 staff including 700+ park rangers safeguarding natural reserves, a testament to Peru’s prioritization of conservation within tourism development.

A keynote spotlight featured the Andes Race, Peru’s flagship trail running event through the Sacred Valley and Andes, which has grown substantially over a decade. From humble beginnings with under 100 runners and sparse international presence, it now enjoys prominent sponsorships (Adidas, Copa Airlines) and international acclaim.
