Bigger Focus on Sustainable Products at Metstrade 2025
Metstrade 2025 takes place from 18–20 November at RAI Amsterdam. It is the largest edition so far. Nearly 1,700 exhibitors join the show. They present a record number of new products. The show stresses sustainability across the leisure marine industry. Eco-friendly solutions fill all 13 exhibition halls.
Sustainability Across the Leisure Marine Spectrum
For the first time, every hall shows sustainable ideas. Each hall covers many topics. These include boat building materials, propulsion systems, engine systems, electronics, decking, coatings, maintenance products, life-saving equipment, fuel systems, filtration, and marina infrastructure. The trend is clear: the focus is on both innovation and care for the environment.
Highlighted Technologies and Zones
-
Foiling Technology Zone:
Foiling, which started in racing boats, helps recreational vessels use less fuel and perform better. It now has benefits for superyachts. -
Next Gen Zone (Hall 13):
This zone has several parts:- Sustainable Innovation Hub:
World Sailing and The Sustainability Toolbox run this hub. It studies the circular economy. It also looks at reuse, repurposing, and recycling. Visitors see case studies. They also take part in World Sailing’s ‘Product Circularity’ survey. Free sustainability lessons and advice are given here. - Royal 3D:
Royal 3D shows advanced 3D printing. They use recycled plastics and repurposed wood to create marine products. Royal 3D even made the DAME Design Awards trophy using these materials. - Next Generation Propulsion Showcase:
In partnership with the International Electric Maritime Association (IEMA), this part shows electric, hybrid, and alternative fuel systems. The focus stays on zero emissions and greener solutions.
- Sustainable Innovation Hub:
Educational and Interactive Sessions
IEMA leads two panel discussions:
- One talks about how data guides sustainability.
- Another, titled “Silence and Sensation,” addresses noise and vibration. It explains how these factors influence onboard comfort and market choices.
Advancing Superyacht Sustainability
The show offers the fourth Superyacht Sustainability Route. It is run with the Water Revolution Foundation. This route highlights superyacht products and solutions. The items are checked with Life Cycle Assessments. They aim to lower environmental impact, boost efficiency, and support social responsibility through a ship’s life.
Marine Impact Lab: Accelerating Sustainability
On Monday, 17 November, the Marine Impact Lab holds a focused workshop. Metstrade and top marine organizations lead the session. Experts like Will Hopes (BAR Technologies) and Alessandro Stagni (Northern Lights Composites) speak. They discuss circular materials and sustainable design. The workshop gives practical tools and clear ideas to boost sustainable progress.
Metstrade’s Commitment to Sustainability
Metstrade takes action to support eco-friendly practices. They reduce single-use plastics and food waste onsite. They use sustainable stand designs. They offer the “Metstrain,” a Eurostar carriage from London to Amsterdam. This train ride helps promote low-emission travel.
