Overview

The Alliance for Sustainable Building Products (ASBP) and BE-ST have formed a strategic partnership focused on accelerating the adoption of low-carbon, natural, and sustainable building materials throughout the UK construction and built environment sectors.

Partnership Goals

  • Advocacy & Promotion:
Collaborate on promoting sustainable materials in both retrofit and new build projects.

  • Support Timber-Rich Construction:
Encourage increased use of homegrown timber and timber-engineered products.

  • Research & Development:
Conduct joint research into innovative sustainable building solutions to expand the market for proven low-carbon products.

  • Knowledge Sharing & Programmes:
Develop educational programs and share expertise with industry partners, government bodies, and researchers to embed sustainable practices more widely.

Key Focus Areas

  • Expanding markets for low-carbon products like natural fibre insulation championed by ASBP.
  • Leveraging each organisation’s network and technical knowledge on timber and natural materials.
  • Strengthening collaboration to influence policy and skills development towards low-carbon construction standards.

Leadership Statements

  • Richard Broad, ASBP Director:
“This partnership enables us to combine knowledge and networks to make a tangible impact on embedding sustainable products in construction at scale.”

  • Louise Rogers, BE-ST Impact Manager:
“Our joint efforts will enhance sector collaboration and help integrate sustainable materials into industry practice and policy, making low-carbon construction the norm.”
