The Unwaste Shop Expands Sustainable Living to Beverly, Chicago
Introducing Sustainable Alternatives to South Side Residents
The Unwaste Shop is a mission. It promotes sustainable living. Randi Alexander, a Beverly resident, co-owns the shop. Todd Barancik also co-owns it. The team opened a zero-waste store in Beverly, Chicago. They opened the store on November 28, 2025. The shop gives local people eco-friendly products. It provides zero-waste essentials too.
A Community-Focused Zero-Waste Store
The store sits at 1915 W. 103rd St. It holds many sustainable alternatives. It offers everyday items for the home. You can buy bath and body items here. You can get beauty products as well. Dry pantry goods, cleaning supplies, and laundry items are on offer. A refill station stands out. It lets customers bring containers. This step cuts single-use plastics.
Founders’ Journey Toward Sustainability
• Randi Alexander found her spark during a backpacking trip. She saw waste on the road.
• The business began as a pop-up in 2021 in West Town. Jessica Naimy and Ben Mayne started it.
• Todd Barancik took charge in early 2022. Alexander joined later. She helped run the West Loop store. Now, she drives the Beverly expansion.
Making Sustainable Living Accessible
The shop breaks barriers. It makes sustainable habits simple. Alexander creates a friendly space. Everyone is welcome, no matter the skill in sustainability.
Community Partnerships and Upcoming Events
The shop works with local groups.
• Reduce Waste Chicago teams up to collect broken holiday lights.
• EcoShip gathers used shipping materials for reuse.
An event comes soon. A Do It Yourself Bookmaking Workshop happens on January 24, 2026. Kelly Laughlin of Odette Press will guide the workshop. Participants learn to make soft-cover journals. Tickets are on The Unwaste Shop’s website.
