OEKO-TEX® Partners with TextileGenesis to Trace Organic Cotton Digitally
Organic Cotton Sustainability Matters
Organic cotton matters to the global textile and apparel sectors. Brands, consumers, and regulators seek fast checks of sustainability. OEKO-TEX® shows its ORGANIC COTTON certificate grew by 381% year-over-year on December 31, 2025. This change underlines fast growth in certified volumes.
Digital Steps Against Fraud and Waste
OEKO-TEX® picks TextileGenesis, a Lectra company, to digitize transaction certificates. This move cuts fraud and eases certification tasks. OEKO-TEX® adds its test and certificate skills. TextileGenesis uses a digital trace tool. The two sides work as one secure team. They now replace old paper steps with digital paths.
Fibercoin™ Brings Tamper-Proof Links
TextileGenesis uses Fibercoin™ technology as the key tool. It links a cotton shipment with one unique token. Each token sits in a closed loop. This method makes a clear, tamper-proof chain from raw fiber to final product. It also lowers the work for ginners, spinners, manufacturers, and brands.
Testing Joins Digital Certification
OEKO-TEX® pairs the digital system with its test system. It runs GMO tests in 17 labs around the world to check organic steps from fiber to yarn. The plan backs OEKO-TEX®’s path to digital checks. CEO Dr. Alfred J. Beerli calls this a new step to clear and data-based work. This method may grow to other OEKO-TEX® checks beyond organic cotton.
A Successful Pilot in South Asia
A test pilot in early 2025 traced parts of the organic cotton chain in India and Bangladesh. Eleven supply actors and 24 certificates covered 19 approved steps. Users said the digital system was clear and easy. They also noted a drop in manual work. The pilot set a strong sign for the industry.
Growth and Future Steps
After the pilot, OEKO-TEX® and TextileGenesis plan to grow the digital tool. They want to add more organic cotton chains. Their team sees real-time checks and easy data work as key for textile certification. OEKO-TEX® aims to build a digital and trusted certification world.
