OEKO-TEX® Partners with TextileGenesis to Digitize Traceability for Organic Cotton
Organic cotton grows in value. It needs clear proof of sustainable production. The OEKO-TEX® ORGANIC COTTON mark grew by 381% by the end of 2025. This shows the need for solid traceability.
A Future-Forward Digital Certification Solution
OEKO-TEX® partners with TextileGenesis, a Lectra company. They digitize Transaction Certificates for organic cotton. OEKO-TEX® lends testing skills. TextileGenesis gives a digital platform. Together, they offer:
- Secure, end-to-end management of organic cotton
- A single digital system instead of many paper certificates
- Clear and tamper-proof traceability from fibers to finished goods
TextileGenesis uses its token-based Fibercoin™. Each cotton shipment gets a digital token. This token links to a unique chain. It cuts down on manual work. It boosts trust across the supply chain.
Rigorous Verification Across the Supply Chain
OEKO-TEX® tests every part of the chain. Their 17 global institutes check raw fibers and yarn. They control the process at its start. This keeps organic standards high.
Dr. Alfred J. Beerli, OEKO-TEX® CEO, said the move is a key step. The digital system makes certification faster and able to grow. Plans will extend the system to other products.
Successful Pilot Validates Industry Readiness
In early 2025, a pilot ran in India and Bangladesh. It involved 11 players. They validated 24 Transaction Certificates on 19 shipments. The pilot showed:
- A strong digital system acceptance
- Less administrative work
- More transparency and trust
Suppliers like KKP Spinning Mills and Milan Ginning Pressing praised the clear steps and boosted confidence.
Scaling Toward a Digital Traceability Future
Building on pilot success, OEKO-TEX® and TextileGenesis will use digital Transaction Certificates in more organic cotton chains. They commit to real-time transparency and connection.
OEKO-TEX® sees this shift as key. It will shape new textile certification standards. It will keep sustainability claims trusted and scalable.
