Oeko-Tex Digitizes Organic Cotton Authentication with TextileGenesis Partnership

Oeko-Tex certifies textiles. It now moves from paper to digital. Strong demand pushes it to change. In 2023, it launched organic cotton certification. In 2025, this grew by 381%. To keep this growth and stop fraud, Oeko-Tex partners with TextileGenesis. TextileGenesis, a part of Lectra, improves traceability in fashion and textiles.

Paperless Transaction Certificates via TextileGenesis

This team now digitizes Transaction Certificates. Such certificates show organic cotton is certified. Previously, they used paper or PDF files. Today, TextileGenesis shows proof of certification with Fibercoin technology. Fibercoin makes a secure and clear digital chain. This chain keeps records of the cotton supply.

Pilot Project and Geographic Focus

The pilot began in early 2025. It runs in select supply chains in India and Bangladesh. These supply chains cover steps from ginning to spinning, then fabric production and testing. Data about material movement and certification now sits on one platform. This method joins details and stops earlier gaps and paper issues.

Future Outlook

Dr. Alfred J. Beerli, CEO of Oeko-Tex, sees growth ahead. He thinks this digital method can grow. Soon, it may work for other certifications and more products. This step with TextileGenesis leads to supply chains that are sustainable, clear, and trustworthy.

Key Data Points:

  • Growth: 381% rise in organic cotton certifications in 2025
  • Technology: Fibercoin digital chain by TextileGenesis
  • Pilot Locations: Supply chains in India and Bangladesh
  • Goal: Replace paper certificates for certified organic cotton

This change helps the apparel and home textile fields. It meets the call for verified eco-friendly products. It also stops fraud and fixes paper problems.
