OEKO-TEX Partners with TextileGenesis to Enhance Organic Cotton Traceability
Key Partnership and Industry Context
OEKO-TEX is a leading textile certification group. It teams up with TextileGenesis, a digital traceability platform by Lectra. They digitize Transaction Certificates for organic cotton. This change follows a 381% rise in OEKO-TEX ORGANIC COTTON certifications by 2025. The market now needs proofs of sustainable practices that buyers can trust.
The Digital Solution: Fibercoin Technology
TextileGenesis uses Fibercoin technology to link each cotton shipment with a unique digital token. Each shipment gets a close, secure connection to its digital certificate. The system replaces paper with a token-based method. This chain of custody is tamper-resistant and easy to verify. The new method cuts down on paperwork from ginners, spinners, manufacturers, and brands. It makes the link from raw fiber to finished product clear for everyone.
Benefits and Industry Impact
- Fraud Prevention: Digitizing certificates keeps data intact and stops fraud.
- Operational Efficiency: The system cuts back manual paperwork and saves time.
- Strategic Digitization: This pilot helps OEKO-TEX shift to digital practices. Plans are in place to use similar tools for other certifications soon.
Pilot Project Success and Industry Reception
From March to August 2025, 11 supply chain actors in India and Bangladesh joined the pilot. They digitized 24 certificates for 19 transactions. Spinning mills and ginning facilities praised the system. They said it builds transparency, trust, and compliance. KKP Spinning Mills Pvt. Ltd. reported that digital certificates improved traceability and lowered manual tasks. Milan Ginning Pressing Limited and Atlas Export Enterprises noted a boost in supply chain trust.
Forward-Looking Vision
OEKO-TEX CEO Dr. Alfred J. Beerli said the collaboration fits well with OEKO-TEX’s strong focus on secure, data-driven certification. The partners plan to grow the digital platform. They aim to provide real-time transparency and work together globally. This effort secures trust in textile certifications around the world.
