OEKO-TEX® Partners with TextileGenesis to Enhance Digital Traceability for Organic Cotton
Rapid Growth of Organic Cotton Certification Demands Stronger Traceability
The textile industry now focuses on sustainability. It demands verified and organic cotton supply chains. OEKO-TEX®’s ORGANIC COTTON certification grew by 381% year-over-year as of December 31, 2025. This growth shows a need for robust and fraud-resistant systems. Each word links closely with the next to ensure clear meaning.
Digital Innovation Tackles Fraud and Enhances Transparency
OEKO-TEX® has joined with TextileGenesis, a Lectra company, for a clear goal. They now digitize Transaction Certificates in organic cotton supply chains. OEKO-TEX® lends its certification skills. TextileGenesis brings its digital traceability platform. Together, they build a secure and scalable solution.
TextileGenesis uses Fibercoin™, a token-based method. Each shipment of organic cotton gets its own digital token. This system locks each token to its physical shipment. It ensures traceability from fiber to finished product and cuts administrative work for ginners, spinners, and manufacturers.
Certified Integrity from Fiber to Finished Product
Before certification, raw fibers and yarn are tested. OEKO-TEX® runs in-house GMO tests in 17 international labs. These tests check that organic standards hold at the source. They also confirm standards during manufacturing.
Dr. Alfred J. Beerli, CEO of OEKO-TEX®, said the digital shift helps simplify and scale certification. He sees this model spread to other OEKO-TEX® certifications beyond organic cotton.
Successful Pilot Demonstrates Industry Acceptance
A pilot project began in early 2025. It tracked organic cotton chains in India and Bangladesh. Eleven partners and 24 certificates joined the pilot. Participants like KKP Spinning Mills, Milan Ginning Pressing Limited, and Atlas Export Enterprises praised its ease, efficiency, and support for compliance and trust.
Future Outlook: Scaling Digital Certification Across Textiles
After a successful pilot, OEKO-TEX® and TextileGenesis plan further growth. They will expand digital traceability in more organic cotton chains and other groups. Real-time transparency and close data links will help maintain trust. Digital innovations keep reshaping the textile world.
